terms of service

Effective: August 19, 2026

These terms are an agreement between you and Shu Group LLC ("shū," "we," "us") governing your use of the shū app and website. By creating an account or using shū, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

1. eligibility and your account

You must be at least 13 years old to use shū. You agree to provide an email address you control, to keep your account to yourself, and to maintain one account per person. Sign-in uses one-time email codes; you are responsible for activity that occurs through your email access.

2. what shū is

shū lets you rate, rank, and share study and work spots, and shows community scores that blend rankings from many users. Community scores are opinions of our users, computed by our systems — they are not statements of fact by shū, and we make no guarantee that any spot's information (hours, amenities, availability) is accurate or current. Spot information is contributed and maintained by the community and third-party sources; verify anything that matters before you rely on it.

3. your content

You own the content you create on shū — your rankings, notes, photos, and submissions. By posting, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, reproduce, and adapt that content for the purpose of operating, improving, and promoting the service, including incorporating your rankings into aggregate community scores. This license ends for identifiable content when you delete it or your account, except as reflected in de-identified aggregates and as needed for legal or safety records.

4. community rules

shū works only if the rankings are honest. You agree not to:

• Manipulate scores — including ranking spots you haven't visited, operating multiple accounts, coordinating inauthentic rankings, or accepting anything of value in exchange for rankings;
• Post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, deceptive, or that violates another person's rights or privacy;
• Submit false spot information or impersonate any person or business;
• Scrape, harvest, or bulk-download data from the service, or access it by any automated means without our written permission;
• Interfere with the service's operation or attempt to bypass its security or rate limits;
• Use shū for any commercial purpose without our written agreement.

We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules, at our discretion, with or without notice. You can report content or spots in the app; we review reports but do not guarantee any particular outcome.

5. spot owners and businesses

Being listed on shū does not create a relationship between shū and any business. Rankings reflect user opinion. We do not accept payment to alter, remove, or improve any spot's score or position, and any future paid features will be clearly labeled and will never affect rankings.

6. intellectual property

The shū name, logo, and app — excluding user content and third-party materials — belong to us and are protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app as intended. Don't copy, modify, or create derivative works of the service except as these terms allow.

7. termination

You can stop using shū and delete your account at any time in settings. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including 3, and 8–11) survive.

8. disclaimers

shū is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any information on it is accurate. Your use of any spot or venue is at your own judgment and risk.

9. limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, shū and its founders, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising from your use of the service. To the extent any liability is not excludable, our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

10. indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold shū harmless from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these terms or of any third party's rights.

11. governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Fulton County, Georgia, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for 30 days.

12. changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service evolves. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email before they take effect; continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance. The effective date above always reflects the current version.
